Tinnitus Diary: Spike Tracker · Steady Apps · Effective July 11, 2026

The short version

Tinnitus Diary is local-first. Everything you log stays in a database on your device. We do not run servers, we do not collect analytics, and we never see your data.

What the app stores

The app stores the entries you create — spike logs (loudness, ear, sound type, duration, mood impact, notes), daily check-ins, and your trigger list — in a local database on your device only.

Optional Google Drive backup

You can optionally sign in with your Google account to back up your diary. When backup is on, the app saves one backup file to the private application data folder of your own Google Drive. This folder is accessible only to this app on your account — not to other apps, not to other people, and not to us. The backup exists so you can restore your diary if you reinstall the app or change phones. Transfers to Google Drive are encrypted in transit.

You can turn backup off at any time by signing out, and you can permanently delete the Drive backup from the app (Settings → Delete all data, or Settings → Backup). Signing in is never required — every feature of the diary works without an account.

What we collect

Nothing. We have no servers, no analytics, no advertising SDKs, and no access to your diary or your Google account data. The optional backup goes directly from your device to your own Google Drive using Google’s APIs.

Data deletion

Settings → Delete all data permanently removes every entry from your device and, if you choose, the backup file in your Google Drive. Uninstalling the app removes all local data. There is nothing to delete on our side, because we hold nothing. Step-by-step instructions, including how to remove the Drive backup without the app: Delete Your Data.

Children

Tinnitus Diary is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13.

Not a medical device

Tinnitus Diary helps you track and log your symptoms. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, or cure any condition. Always consult a healthcare professional.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new effective date.
